  AphroDisiax
Sy Sez is a London DJ whos journey began playing on many of Londons pirate radio stations. Along with his radio shows he began playing at local house & warehouse parties, since then he has graced many of Londons best club venues including Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, Pacha, Neighbourhood, Herbal, The Key, KOKO, Canvas, SE1, Plan-B, Matter, The Whitehouse – aswell as other clubs in UK cities such as Bristol, Nottingham, Exeter, Bournemouth, Southampton and Newquay. Since then he has also travelled to Ibiza, Southern Spain and Ireland to showcase his talent.
In 2005 Sy Sez caught the eye of infamous house-music duo ‘The Fanatix’ (Aaron Ross & Neil Pierce) and earned him a place on their monthly residencies at top London venue – Neighbourhood. This notorious residency was a very popular night and created a dedicated following and has now been moved to Herbal – where he continues to be their resident. Due to his continued hardwork, dedication and talent – Sy was then proudly welcomed into the Fanatix as their official 3rd member and to begin joining them in the studio on their productions. Soon after his baptism in production with the Fanatix Sy teamed up with fellow London DJ – Gavin Peters and formed the production outfit AphroDisiax – who are now beginning to create interest with their productions and remixes!
In 2007 his DJ skills earned him a place on the Soul-Heaven lineup on its return to the Ministry of Sound featuring Terry Hunter & Terissa Griffin and also a repeat booking at Soul Heaven for Tony Humphries 50th Birthday…..2 great parties later and Sy was asked to join the heavy-weight in-house lineup as a full Soul Heaven resident ! Also, bookings from soulful house legends Bobby & Steve playing at their famous club night GARAGE CITY (a true soulful house institution) and new residencies for Kinky Malinki + Stereo Sushi confirm Sy as one of the UKs brightest young stars.

Still riding high with their recent single release ‘On Fire’ Slapped Up Soul records come back around with another hardcore package brimming with soul gusto.  The Circle Of Funk crew have produced this double A-side club banger written by soul house diva of the UK Natasha Watts, an in demand vocalist, presently pushing the sound of real vocal house.  Already gaining good support this EP single delivers something special; soulful dance with a bumpy boogie flow as lead cut ‘Soulstream’, it's been tested on the dance floors, the track’s an apparent favourite with the ladies and the likes of DJ Boddhi Satva (Offering & Vega Records) who says he is "really feeling 'Soulstream' - sounding sweet", plus Sy Sez (Aphrodisiax/Colourful radio, UK) is behind it as well as others.  Layered up 80’s soul synths, an even bass line (think Weeks & Co.,) that dance around infectious melodies and the searing playful vocal tone of Natasha on ‘Be Gone’ the catchy second track, suited for the modern soul and house lovers – two bonus Instrumentals included are for explorative DJ’s out there.

Booker T: The Brixton Q&A

My career as a DJ began in the early 80's playing Reggae, Rare Groove, Hip Hop and R & B sounds. My involvement with this music scene continued into the late 80's when I joined a pirate station known as Faze One Radio playing alongside Groove Rider, Fabio, Colin Dale all styles of music, including early house classics "You Used to Hold Me". A trip to the U.S. introduced me to the sounds of Masters At Work, Todd Terry, and Tony Humphries.

"Inner Souls" present Disco Dubz 4 klubz. "Satisfy" is the hook of an old Disco vocal that just fit into the track. Me, I'm always try to be satisfied with everything. I try to live satisfied.

Growin up I started with Reggae baselines . It must come from my West Indian parentage, my roots. Those influences are strong in my music. I like to take it deep and dark, put a bit of everything into it, into what I do. I like to have a fat beat and a heavy baseline.

The NY club scene and the UK club scene are two totally different things. In 1993, when I first came to NY, I was introduced to The Shelter, Merlin Bob, Timmy Regisford meeting Freddie Sannon of Shelter Records. They are the ones who inspired me in the House scene. New York is hot and sweaty on the dancefloor. Completely different than the UK. I love America, especially New York. It's so vibrant, I love the lingo. If I had the opportunity to live in New York, I would.

Friends invited me into the studio and I liked how they were making beats and creating music. I said "I can do that". I wanted to try my hand at it. I love to make music all of the time. I found that by producing I could express myself and how I feel the music.

Playing at the Garage City Party during the Winter Music Conference made the greatest impact on me. Everyone who I admired and looked up to in the House industry was looking at me. The biggest gigs in the world happen at WMC. Big blokes from the US were listening to me. Eric Morillo on MTV interviewed me. That was the turning point for me.

I began by following what Todd Terry and Marshall Web had done, not pirating, but taking bits and pieces influenced by American producers until I found my voice. British radio stations thought I was American until they started interviewing me and realized that I was from Brixton. I found my own style and voice and won a few awards and disks as a result.  It was really something to be the "Side B" of a Masters at Work Remix.

Besides Booker T, the one I use the most is Kings of Soul. Don't use Underground Mass, but you may see something in the future with that name. I like the sound and the feel of Kings of Soul, it's the one I identify with the most.

I have a few booking in the UK during the WMC 2011 dates. Since the dates were changed earlier in the month, it's unlikely I'll be attending. If Oscar P gets "Satisfy" to blow up at WMC, I'll be flying to NYC to give Oscar a big hug and a mojito.

I have fun collaborating and working on solo projects. I have worked with singers and producers and have had the most fun working with producers Eddie Perez and DJ David Camacho. Those are the main fun guys. I love making fun, happy music. If you're happy, you will make happy music. I love making music, so it's all fun for me.

There are tons remixes coming out into 2011. As far as production, working on "Killing Me" with Afrodisiac and working with Marshall Jefferson. I've got my own projects, loads of tunes to flood the market with my own production. 2011 will also bring back some old remixes.

I love what I do. It's not about the money, it's about the music and the people for me. I love making House Music and have since the first time I went to Shelter and Sound Factory. I've met amazing people around the world. That's what this is about for me.

"Inner Souls" present Disco Dubz 4 klubz. "Satisfy" can be found on Traxsource, Beatport, Juno, Stompy, and Itunes.also check out http://www.myspace.com/liquiddeep

Fire rips through three storey bar in Clapham

Fifty revellers had their night cut short when a fire ripped through a three-storey bar in Clapham.

Eight fire engines and about 40 firefighters fought a blaze at the Circle Bar, in Clapham Road, after they were called at 9.19pm last night.

According to the London Fire Brigade, about 50 bar-goers had left the venue before crews from Clapham, Lambeth, Brixton, West Norwood and Chelsea stations arrived.

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said two ambulance crews, a hazardous are response team - which deals with large fires - and a duty officer were sent to the scene shortly after 11pm. However, no one needed treatment.

Firefighters spent more than four hours tackling the blaze, eventually getting it under control by 1.15am this morning.

All of the building’s floors and a roof was partly damaged by fire and smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

IT'S NOT JUST MUSIC ANYMORE

Sometimes, we musicians get caught up in the "music is everything" feeling.  BUT, music is only PART of things.
The music business is 10% music and 90% business (or something close to that).
If your business is weak, no one will know of, listen to, nor buy your music, unless of course, you're one of the rareties.

To fully execute the "business" part effectively, one must have MONEY!
To gain income, one must have many irons in the fire....  gigs, CD sales at gigs, the proverbial T-shirt, personal studio, ring-tones, butcher shop, clothing line, cosmetic line, whiskey with your name on the bottle, cat food with your face on the can, etc.
and Reinvesting in oneself is the key.

So, we mustn't forget... music is NOT everything, but we can DO everything to propel ourselves far enough forward to be our own Conglomerate.
A Prime and perfect example; Duane Harden..... singer, songwriter  (Tell Me Something), party promoter (Party In NYC at Cielo) real estate mogul, computer programmer, label owner (Soltrenz on Facebook) and now, restaurant owner (Duane Harden's Energy Kitchen in NYC) .
Check him out! Great book from which to borrow pages.
Bless!
